Dressed for Dancing in 2023!

“Will you come to life dressed for dancing my dearest one or continue to buy into the centuries old belief that you and Divine Love are not already one?”

This is the question I have been offering myself in 2023 as I inquire:

Where in my life am I holding onto the illusion of separation between me and Divine Love? Where am I still believing at my core I am not one with unfathomable, adoring love that is available to all? Where am I not willing to trust the force of life that raises the sun each day creates a way forward in the most difficult circumstances?

Where am I closed to the possibility of a Divine Love that seeks like water to flow abundantly to parched landscapes and parched hearts across the globe–to renew life for ALL. Where do I shy away from trusting in a new way forward in my relations,  my work and creative expression, in collective justice work, and in service to my community?

Where am I living the lie of separation and unworthiness and not dressing for Divine dancing? Where am I not sharing the invitation to dance in celebration of all we have with my neighbors?

In 2023, I have re-committed myself to dress for dancing each day, to actually physically dance more:), and to extend that invitation for all who feel called to dance with me. Won’t you join in the “dance” of your own making dearest one? You and I and all are worthy of the new world we are c0-creating from the inside-out. Here’s the poem from Hafiz that inspired this inquiry.

A Divine Invitation by Hafiz

You have been invited to meet
The Friend.

No one can resist a Divine Invitation.

That narrows down all of our choices
To just two:

We can come to God
Dressed for Dancing.

Or

Be carried on a stretcher
To God’s Ward.

Footnote: I don’t believe it is God but rather we humans that unconsciously cause ourselves and each other to come limping and on stretchers to the dance. May we learn self-compassion, accountability, forgiveness, reconciliation, and restorative justice. I commit to these practices to help bring balance and justice so all may have safe passage and access.

Special Thanks to Miranda MacPherson for sharing the Hafiz poem with me this month in her monthly teachings.
