Wake Up to A New Year

Posted at January 2, 2015 | By : | Categories : Blog | 0 Comment

Over the years, I have become more acutely aware that the dreams and desires we hold deep in our bellies, the ones we hear only when we get really quiet, need us to keep them alive. We are the only ones who can hear and act on them. In order to do this, we have to remain awake and listen intently as a mother does for the cries of her child in the middle of the night. The Persian mystic poet Rumi invites and dares us to listen for the whisperings of our souls. Will you join me in this deep listening and risk acting on what you hear in 2015?

“The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you
Don’t go back to sleep!
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep!
People are going back and forth
across the doorsill where the two worlds touch,
The door is round and open
Don’t go back to sleep!”

― Rumi

“What do you really want?” Perhaps this can be a question we ask again and again, dropping down each time we ask it beneath our answers to our soul’s truth throughout the year. May this awakened seeking guide our paths in 2015.

Happy New Year!
